Heather’s Rock Candy

  • 2 cups Our Family® Sugar
  • 2/3 cups Our Family® Corn Syrup
  • 3/4 water
  • 1 dram of flavor oil
  • Food coloring (optional)
  1. Mix sugar, water and corn syrup together. Stir until dissolved. Turn on medium heat and attach a candy thermometer onto the pan. Stir occasionally until the thermometer reaches around 250-260°F. Do a ‘hardball’ test by dipping a spoon into the mixture and running the spoon under very cold water. If the mixture drip stays soft under the water then allow to boil a little longer. If mixture hardens right away under the cold water it is ready.
  2. Add any flavor or color you desire and pour mixture onto a powdered sugar covered cookie sheet. Spread evenly over the pan and place on the refrigerator or outside if cold enough. When the mixture begins to crack on it’s own, sprinkle more powdered sugar on top and break into small pieces. Store in an airtight container and enjoy!
